APA Appreciation Week is Almost Here!

Why only one week dedicated to appreciate AP professionals? 

Well, we currently don’t have even one day set aside each year to show appreciation to Accounts Payable folk, so a week is a good start! It’s high time AP staff get put in the spotlight, shining a light on just what they do to contribute to a company’s success. 

Responsible for the final steps in any transaction, even though multiple departments have touched the transaction before them, AP staffers are usually first in the firing line for any errors. Basically, they had nothing to do with the recipe, getting the right ingredients, cooking the meal, but are responsible for how it looks and tastes… possibly a silly metaphor but, true. 

So, what is it really like to work in a busy AP department? 

Everyone relies on AP professionals to get paid, from suppliers to staff within the company. What is business all about at the end of the day? Money. The role of the AP professional is crucial. 

A pivotal role that comes with a lot of stress and a mountain of pressure, but you do it, day in and day out, and you do your best to ensure it’s done right! And we know that it’s not as easy as you make it look 🙂 

The AP department is usually facing an uphill battle on a regular basis. They are in between procurement, the wider staff body, their suppliers and the financial management team. They constantly receive calls and emails asking when they will be paying x, y or z. Along with the myriad other tasks facing them daily, they still hold it together and keep things ticking over, with precision, never letting the company down. 

So, now it’s time for AP to be noticed! It’s time for all AP professionals to relax… bask in the limelight… enjoy being recognised for a job really well done.

With such a huge amount of pressure placed on the AP department, they still do a fantastic job and that is why we decided to celebrate AP teams all over the UK (and across the pond, of course!). AP employees are some of the hardest working people we have met and they just don’t get the respect they deserve.
